ANGI URSETTA

FOR SECRETARY-TREASURER of Local 705

Hi! I’m Angi Ursetta, the current Secretary-Treasurer for Local 705 and candidate for the upcoming election.

I am a Pattern-Maker Fitter by trade, and proud to be the first Custom Made member to hold a full time paid Officer position at Local 705.

It has been a privilege to serve the members of Local 705 for the past three years. During that time, I have learned a tremendous amount about the needs of our membership and what it takes to help manage our Local effectively.

I respectfully ask for your vote so I can continue to serve our members with dedication, using my experience and knowledge to represent our members with integrity and accountability while helping to move Local forward.

WORKING TO BUILD A BETTER FOUNDATION FOR LOCAL 705!
CANDIDATE STATEMENT

Over the past three years, as your Secretary-Treasurer, I've had the opportunity to build this role from the ground up, developing systems, creating essential templates, and putting in the work to transform a position that had gradually lost its structure into one that operates with purpose and direction. It's been meaningful, hands-on work, and I'm proud of the foundation that's now in place.

There's still more to accomplish, and that's why I'm running for re-election. Continuing this progress ensures that the next phase builds on a solid, fully realized framework designed to support both the office and our members effectively.

During this term, I've established clear financial procedures and documentation standards, giving our Local a reliable and transparent paper trail. I've actively pursued conferences, training, and educational opportunities - not because they were required, but because I believe Local 705 deserves leadership that is informed, prepared, and continually improving.

I launched a monthly town hall, Tuesdays with the Treasurer, to create an open space where members can ask questions, stay informed about how our funds are managed, and learn about important financial topics. I created a system to start rebuilding our reserve fund so our Local has more security for the future. I've ensured our Strike Fund and Costumers' Fund have been moved into interest-bearing accounts. I know all of our financial accounts, vendors, accounting codes, and financial systems. I know every step to prepare for quarterly membership meetings and monthly Executive Board meetings, and I know all of our office systems to run the Secretary-Treasurer's office smoothly on a daily basis.

I won't need to spend time learning these structures. Instead, I can dedicate the next term to studying better banking systems, streamlining administrative processes, creating solutions to better serve our members, finding cost-saving opportunities, and working together with all of our leadership to do what's best for Local 705.

Looking ahead, I'm focused on increasing accessibility and efficiency. Members have expressed a desire for easier access to financial documents, and I'm committed to delivering that through our member portal, working alongside our entire leadership team. I will continue strengthening the operational foundation of this position so that more time can be dedicated to high-impact responsibilities - working with financial institutions, evaluating investments, and ensuring our dues are working as hard as our members do.

The role of Secretary-Treasurer is built on competence, consistency, and trust. I encourage you to look at the work that has been done and the progress we've made together.

I bring direct experience, proven results, and a deep commitment to this Local. I am proud to be a Custom-Made costumer, proud to serve Local 705, and I look forward to the opportunity to build on this progress.

ENDORSEMENT  - TARRELL MITCHELL

I'm proud to support Angi Ursetta for reelection as Secretary-Treasurer of Local 705. Throughout her tenure, she has demonstrated strong leadership, transparency, and a genuine commitment to the financial well-being of our membership. She consistently advocates for our interests, ensures our union remains financially sound, and communicates clearly and openly with members.

Angi's dedication and integrity have helped strengthen Local 705, and I believe she is the right person to continue guiding us forward. I encourage all members to vote and support her reelection.

ENDORSEMENT - KAYLIE KVORIAK

During her first term as secretary-treasurer, Angi has proven herself to be committed to transparency with the local’s finances. Her updates at meetings (complete with charts and graphs) and her “Tuesdays with the Treasurer” sessions provide pertinent information in a way that’s easy to digest, and give me confidence that our local’s finances are well managed. Having started this role during a very tumultuous time for 705, Angi was an instrumental member of the team that brought us back to financial stability. I know Angi will continue this work in her next term, and wholeheartedly endorse her to continue as our local’s secretary-treasurer.

ENDORSEMENT - PAIGE GERAN

Angi played a pivotal role in my reinstatement into Local 705. What once felt like the impossible became achievable through her support, patience, and genuine willingness to listen to my story. She guided me seamlessly through each step of the process. I fully support her reelection, as I’ve never experienced this level of support within Local 705 before.

ENDORSEMENT - REBECCA WHITTINGTON

I’m happy to endorse Angi Ursetta in her bid to remain our Secretary/Treasurer.  I first met Angi on a show in 2021.  She was a reliable co-worker and an excellent stitcher, but even then I knew she was interested in doing more.  She was always trying to come up with better ways to do things and to make things better for everyone in the shop.  Since she has been in office as our Secretary/treasurer, I feel like she’s brought that same energy to the office and constantly looks for ways to do more than just her job.  She came into office during one of the most difficult times 705 has faced financially and she has consistently worked to be transparent about our finances and where we are headed.  I hope she’ll be able to continue her contributions and to keep improving our union for all of us!

ENDORSEMENT - SARA BACON

Endorsement of Angi Ursetta for Secretary-Treasurer

For a variety of reasons, I think that Angi Ursetta is the best candidate for Secretary-Treasurer.

1. She has been doing a good job during these three years, steering us through some difficult times: strikes and production slow downs, financial crisis within 705, and being handed the role of dealing with contractors and managing renovations to our new building. (Anybody who has bought or remodeled a home knows that’s a stressful job even when if you choose it for yourself.) Angi handled these difficult situations as a professional, with seriousness. Her willingness to provide information in formats that we could understand helped to restore confidence in our Local’s management. Tuesdays with the Treasurer is a great oversight tool which allows us to delve into details, with time and depth that we don’t usually have during General Membership meetings.

2. There’s a lot to be said for experience. Angi has studied the process as she performed her duties and then taken steps to improve our situations (interest-bearing accounts for various funds, for example.) I personally believe in a policy of rotation of leadership in that we probably wouldn’t want the same person in office for 12 years. However, when we have someone who has done their job well, feels more effective and confident after 3 years; I believe that it would serve us well to have her continue for a second term.

3. And, there is a lot to be said for institutional memory. The role of Secretary-Treasurer is kind of a storehouse for what the Local has done over a time period. Preparing minutes and financial paperwork, and remembering where to look for details creates valuable skills and memory that reside in a person’s brain. Angi has told me that she wants to create a transition practice for future officers so that there can be continuity into the future; and/or a record of what was tried before, and didn’t work. We will have many new officers and representatives after this election. I see a benefit for us as members to have Angi remain in this important position.

ENDORSEMENT - TIFFANY WELT-RANDEL

I'm happy to endorse Angi Ursetta in her bid for a 2nd term for Secretary/Treasurer.

Angi has gone above and beyond in her position of Secretary/Treasurer. Angi entered into this position in a fire storm of our local and has done this position with grit and grace. Angi has worked tirelessly to help get our budget on track and give transparency with our building loans and responsibilities. She has more training and education than any other elected officer and has devoted so much of her free time to side projects to get our local in sync and up to par with the other locals. At this time in our local we need to re-elect Angi Ursetta to continue with financial transparency and consistency.

Experience & Integrity

With over a decade of dedicated service with the Motion Picture Costumers, I have demonstrated a commitment to the welfare of my fellow members through leadership and transparency.

My candidacy for Secretary-Treasurer is built upon a foundation of fiscal responsibility and an understanding of our union's unique challenges. I believe that every member is a partner in our progress.

My vision is one of active engagement, where clear communication and integrity guide every decision. By streamlining financial processes and ensuring transparent reporting, I aim to strengthen the trust that binds our community together and help make our union a more resilient and supportive environment for all of our members.

As Secretary-Treasurer, it is my duty to oversee the financial affairs of Local 705, maintain accountability, implement safeguards to protect against malfeasance, and safeguard the treasury of our Local. I work closely with professional financial advisors to ensure our resources are managed responsibly so that every member can clearly see how their dues are handled and reinvested into the strength of our union.

I am committed to continually expanding my knowledge and expertise in this role. Over the past three years, I have actively pursued educational opportunities that strengthen my ability to serve as Secretary-Treasurer. Continuing to grow as a union leader means providing stronger service and better representation for all of our members.

If reelected as Secretary-Treasurer I will continue building the institutional foundation of this position and of our Local. This includes helping to develop an employee handbook, establishing a Financial Process and Procedures Handbook, creating an official onboarding process for the new officers and Executive Board members, and assisting with the drafting of a comprehensive rewrite of our Constitution and ByLaws.

Over the past almost 3 years, I have focused on strengthening the foundation of this office and improving the systems that support our Local. I have created more than 30 document templates to streamline the administrative and financial work of the office. I have also helped update the Committee Chair Handbook, improved and streamlined the new member process, and developed strong working relationships with Secretary-Treasurers across the United States to share knowledge and best practices.

During my term I have facilitated the transfer of our Strike Fund and Costumers' Fund from a non interest bearing account, to a money market account currently at a 4% interest rate. I have brought forward motions to the Board to close bank accounts that were unnecessary, and open a new account that will allow committees to utilize Zelle for fundraising purposes and recently to finally create a system to rebuild our investment accounts. I initiated the conversations with IngleDodd to begin our partnership and which has allowed us to have a new stream of income and a way to gain more recognition and respect of our members through the quarterly magazine publication.

CAMPAIGN FOUNDATION

My Three Core Values

My candidacy is built on a commitment to the Motion Picture Costumers through fiscal responsibility, transparency and member-centric advocacy and a dedication to Integrity, Kindness and Grace.

Integrity

When our Local faced its hardest chapter, I made a commitment: to protect our members' money and work with the new board to rebuild the financial oversight that had gone missing. I've spent my term to-date doing that. I’ve worked alongside with the board strengthening transparency, tightening accountability, improving communications, and making sure what happened before can’t happen again.

Kindness

Members who have called the office know I get back to them as quickly as I’m able to, I listen, and I follow through to the best of my ability. I don't server members by seniority or status. If you need or needed help, I show up for you and showed up for you, one conversation at a time.

Grace

I treat members with respect and dignity. Members who have called with challenges have been met with active listening, empathy, compassion, and a problem solving mindset to create workable solutions for our Local and members.
